What contribution did the following scientists make towards the big bang theory?
- Walter Adams.
His primary interest was the study of stellar spectra. He worked on solar spectroscopy and co-discovered a relationship between the relative intensities of certain spectral lines and the absolute magnitude of a star. He was able to demonstrate that spectra could be used to determine whether a star was a giant or a dwarf.
- Ralph Alpher.
- He made a mathematical formula brought into being the scientific theory of the origin of the universe. His paper said the universe occurred 14 billion years ago with a superhot explosion.
- Robert Dicke.
in the mid-1960s by the Bell Labs researchers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson. While completing a radio wave survey, their horn shaped antenna picked up a strange hiss. After they reported the result to the physicist Robert Dicke of Princeton, he calculated its temperature and found that it matched the predictions of the Big Bang theory. This discovery confirmed the existence of an ultra-hot beginning to the universe. It was not precise enough, however, to reveal the fine details of the primordial distribution of matter and energy.
- What was Hubble’s involvement in space research?
Hubble was an american astronomer he found the existence of other galaxies besides the milky way in the universe. He also found out that the universe is expanding and is still expanding to this date.
- What does the telescope do?
Hubble is a telescope that orbits Earth. Its position above the atmosphere, which distorts and blocks the light that reaches our planet, gives it a view of the universe which is far better than any of ground-based telescopes.
- Where can the telescope be found?
The telescope can be found orbiting the Earth.
- What is Hubble’s law?
Hubble reported that the distant stars and galaxies were receding from us, and that the further away they were, the faster they were going. This is now known as Hubble’s law.
